Can an AI Girlfriend Improve Men’s Emotional Intelligence?

Imagine leaving a stack of dirty dishes in the sink for your girlfriend to find after she returns from work. This action makes your girlfriend feel ___. If you can’t fill in the blank, you might benefit from using AngryGF.

AngryGF is a new app that acts as an AI-powered relationship simulator, helping straight men navigate typical conflicts with their wives or girlfriends through gamified scenarios.

How it functions

Users select from a set of prewritten challenges, such as, “Your girlfriend and mother fall into a river at the same time. You save your mother first. Your girlfriend is very angry.” The goal is to practice comforting an angry partner. A forgiveness level scale shows users’ progress, giving them 10 attempts to reach a resolution score of 100 or to fail at zero.

Additionally, the app includes an AI chatbot for real-time relationship advice. For instance, when asked, “What should I do if I forgot my girlfriend’s birthday?” the app provides ten pieces of advice.

Emilia Aviles, AngryGF’s co-founder, was inspired by her past relationships where she felt a lack of emotional support during tough times. Built on OpenAI’s GPT-4, the app offers limited free scenarios and chatbot responses, with a pro subscription costing $7 per week or $20 per month for increased access.

Love in the time of AI

AngryGF isn’t the first AI app addressing relationship issues:

Relish analyzes communication patterns to offer personalized relationship advice.

Maia assists couples in working through fights, having meaningful conversations, and planning date nights.

Lovewick provides anniversary reminders, couple games, and video date packs for long-distance relationships.

Many more apps are emerging to aid in matchmaking, fostering platonic friendships, and enhancing emotional and communication management.

Our relationship advice: If you decide to use AngryGF, it might be wise not to mention to your partner that you needed AI to understand why she’s upset about your incessant mentions of your ex. Check out the original article here.
